I am here to hear you
Multilingual discussion cards are a tool for family work with refugee children and youth and their parents, created by the Avaamo Services team at the Refugee Youth Support Association in Tampere, Finland. They aim to facilitate and improve communication between parents and children. They have been adapted in Bulgaria by the Reachout Foundation within the project "I am here to hear you", funded by the Sofia Social Innovation Programme.
The set contains 130 cards divided into five thematic areas, a dice with color codes and instructions for use. Three of the thematic areas (family, school and leisure) have separate sets for children/adolescents and parents. The other two areas (emotions and health) have only one set of cards, which includes questions for both the child and the parents. In the Bulgarian version, the questions on each card as well as the instructions for use are in five languages (Bulgarian, Russian, English, Arabic and Farsi).
The Avaamo cards can be used by parents as well as social workers, educational counsellors and other professionals who support refugee and migrant families.
